ACS offers unique ultrasonic concrete testing equipment that can detect defective concrete. Some of their products are fairly simple and relatively inexpensive, such as the A1410 Pulsar and UK1401 Surfer.
These devices measure the velocity and intensity of through transmitted low frequency ultrasound. Good quality concrete has faster transit time with less attenuation (loss) of sound. Absolute values can be measured or items compared to known good structures.
The other devices are imaging systems that can display rebar, voids, indicate thickness, etc.
